Content version 2026.10-2 · 2026-10-09
Who it is for
Service members and veterans who want to learn to use AI tools for everyday work, and to check what the tools produce. No prior AI knowledge is needed.
Cost
Free. No account is needed to read the lessons. A free account is optional and keeps a record of the lessons a learner marks complete. Lesson 1 needs no AI account and no paid tool. Outside AI tools may have their own costs.
Where to start
Lesson 1, “What AI actually is”:
vetslearn.com/lessons/foundations/01/
Time
The Foundations track is 7 lessons. Planned time is about 32 minutes of reading and 135 minutes of practice: 167 minutes in all (2 hr 47 min). These are planning estimates, not measured times. Learners go at their own pace.
The data rule
Do not paste classified, controlled or personal data into an AI tool. The lessons use made-up examples, so no real data is needed.
What it is not
- Not a class. It is self-study only. There is no instructor and no cohort.
- Not a SkillBridge or VET TEC program.
- Not a certification. Completion is self-reported: the learner marks a lesson complete and nobody assesses the work.
- No LMS integration and no team reporting.
- Not accredited VA claims help: see a VA-accredited VSO.
- No claim of Section 508 or WCAG conformance, FedRAMP authorization, a contract vehicle or agency endorsement.
