Start with the idea
Measure the whole workflow rather than only faster drafting.
Include preparation, review and correction in both comparisons. Check quality separately. A single constructed case does not establish a general productivity gain.
Total task time: Time spent preparing, drafting, checking and repairing the work.

A made-up teaching example
Manual drafting and review take fifteen minutes. AI drafting, preparation, review and correction take fourteen. Drafting dropped by ten minutes, but the full-task difference is only one.
Ask yourself
Should the result claim ten minutes saved overall?
Show the explanation
No. Report the full-task difference and the constructed test conditions. Keep initial quality failures visible.
Start with these checks
- Include overhead and rework.
- Use comparable tasks.
- Do not generalize small fictional measurements.
Use the different practice case below and check every requirement in its full instructions.
Full learning objectives
- Include review and correction effort.
- Separate time, quality and risk.
- Set limits before connecting automation.

The method
Measure the entire task: preparation, drafting, review, correction and rework. Compare equivalent inputs and acceptance criteria. Record sample size, configuration and failures. Faster draft generation alone does not show reduced total effort; a shortcut that produces unusable work has not improved the workflow.
Start with a deterministic checklist or template if it solves the task. Automate only a bounded step with clear value, permissions and recovery. Set retry and spending limits before optional live execution; training uses fictional timings and no purchases. Keep human decisions explicit. A pilot result describes the tested tasks under the recorded conditions, not guaranteed savings for all work.
Choose your model, harness and offline route
Text-only assistant
Use supplied text. Ask for a plan or draft; do not claim browsing, code execution or file access that was unavailable.
Tool-enabled application or harness
Record which tools actually run, allowed files and actions, approval boundaries and observable results. Tools are optional unless the task needs them.
Local or cloud deployment
Inspect inference, retrieval, connectors, logs and storage separately. Use only authorized environments for real data; training fixtures are fictional.
Higher-capability or frontier model
Evaluate the exact task and configuration. Capability does not supply missing evidence or grant permission. No provider ranking or guarantee is implied.
Offline alternative
Use the supplied inputs and inspect the worked example manually. Builder exercises use local deterministic Python. No paid account or live model call is required.
Record the exact product/model label when available, tools actually used, inputs, permitted actions, observed output and checks. Live accounts or APIs may have external costs; they are optional and are not used by this page.

Supplied input
Constructed timings: manual draft 12 min + review 3 = 15. AI draft 2 + preparation 4 + review 5 + correction 3 = 14. One comparable task; quality criteria passed in both.
A checked result
Difference: one minute for this constructed task. Drafting fell by ten minutes, but total effort fell by only one. No general productivity gain is established.
Why this works
The comparison includes overhead and avoids promoting a single fictional observation into a business claim.
Try a different case
Independent constructed cases: manual totals 20, 18, 22 min; assisted totals 15, 21, 19. The middle assisted output missed a required caveat and needs 4 extra minutes. Calculate corrected totals and propose a further trial.

Calculate full workflow effort
Use the supplied independent case above. Check the bounded decisions, then review your written artifact against the full acceptance criteria.
Everything runs in this browser. No AI model is called and no work is uploaded. Bounded checks cover specific facts and rules. Your writing is not graded: you review it yourself. Practice never marks a lesson complete automatically.
State quality criteria, reviewer, total-effort measure and stop condition.
Try the task, run the checks, then revise. Checks are teaching feedback, not an instructor grade.
Observed browser simulation
This trace comes from the bounded local checker. It is not a Python run, model result or production tool execution.
Self-review
Locked. Write every written part, then run the checks. A few words is not an attempt.
This is self-review, not grading. Read our answers, then tick what your own work does. Ticks are optional. They stay on this page and are not saved or sent anywhere. A different answer can be just as good if it meets the lesson criteria.
Your further-trial proposal
A strong answer
Result so far: manual 60 minutes, assisted 59 with rework. One minute apart over three made-up cases, and one assisted output missed a required caveat. That does not show a benefit. Proposed trial: 20 matched tasks, each done both ways. Quality rule: every output must include the required caveat and pass the same checklist. Reviewer: one named person who checks both sets. Measure: total minutes to a usable output, counting preparation, review and rework. Stop if two assisted outputs in a row miss a required item.
A flawed answer
Assisted work took 55 minutes against 60, a clear saving. Roll it out to the whole team and track how much faster drafting gets.
What is wrong with it: 55 leaves out the 4 minutes of rework; the real total is 59. Three made-up cases cannot justify a rollout. Tracking drafting speed alone repeats the mistake, because it ignores review and repair.
Keep or restore your work
Drafts are not saved automatically. Save only fictional practice data. A browser draft may be lost if storage is cleared; download a copy to keep it.
Your steps
- Include the four-minute correction.
- Compare totals and quality failures.
- Set a review owner, trial boundary and stop condition.
Check your work
- Manual total 60; corrected assisted total 59.
- Report one quality failure and only three constructed cases.
- Do not claim the workflow has proven general savings.
After your attempt: review notes and a common mistake
Assisted total is 15 + 25 + 19 = 59. Reporting 55 omits rework. A broader trial can be proposed, but there is no measured real-world benefit in this exercise.
Different wording or a different justified decision can pass. Check your work against every requirement; these notes are not an automated grade.
Explain your approach
What failure would make the workflow unacceptable even if faster?
