A text editor and supplied fictional decision packets. No purchase, procurement action or operational approval is performed.
Start with the idea
Write a conditional adoption decision that shows what is still missing.
Describe the need, alternative, known setup and evidence gaps. Set pilot rules and accountable owners. Keep a classroom decision separate from purchasing or real authorization.
Conditional decision: A decision limited by stated requirements that must be met before further action.

A made-up teaching example
The worked decision allows supplied fictional records and manual release review only. Operational adoption remains pending the named evidence and responsible authorization.
Ask yourself
Does a clear training proposal approve a real purchase or deployment?
Show the explanation
No. It identifies conditions for further review. Retention and total effort can remain unresolved.
Start with these checks
- Use no personal data in the exercise.
- Name pilot gates and owners.
- Keep purchase and operational approval outside the classroom task.
Use the different practice case below and check every requirement in its full instructions.
Full learning objectives
- Integrate use-case, boundary and vendor evidence.
- Make a conditional go, pause or no-go decision.
- Assign ownership and review triggers.

The method
Build the decision packet around a concrete use case. Include alternatives, baseline, complete boundary, evaluation criteria, evidence gaps, pilot plan, ownership and recovery. Your conclusion may be go for a bounded synthetic pilot, pause for evidence, or no-go. A well-supported pause is a successful learning outcome.
Separate approval stages: learning exercise, synthetic pilot, authorized organizational trial and operational adoption. Evidence for one does not automatically authorize another. State what is untested and what responsible review is needed. Avoid claiming accreditation, procurement eligibility or certification from this course or your fictional packet.
Choose your model, harness and offline route
Text-only assistant
Use supplied text. Ask for a plan or draft; do not claim browsing, code execution or file access that was unavailable.
Tool-enabled application or harness
Record which tools actually run, allowed files and actions, approval boundaries and observable results. Tools are optional unless the task needs them.
Local or cloud deployment
Inspect inference, retrieval, connectors, logs and storage separately. Use only authorized environments for real data; training fixtures are fictional.
Higher-capability or frontier model
Evaluate the exact task and configuration. Capability does not supply missing evidence or grant permission. No provider ranking or guarantee is implied.
Offline alternative
Use the supplied inputs and inspect the worked example manually. Builder exercises use local deterministic Python. No paid account or live model call is required.
Record the exact product/model label when available, tools actually used, inputs, permitted actions, observed output and checks. Live accounts or APIs may have external costs; they are optional and are not used by this page.

Supplied input
Worked decision structure: bounded need; alternative; known configuration; missing evidence; synthetic pilot; gates; owner; review date. No purchase or real deployment occurs.
A checked result
“Proceed only with supplied fictional records and manual release review; operational adoption remains pending the specified evidence and responsible authorization.”
Why this works
Conditions make the decision useful while preventing a classroom proposal from becoming an implied approval.
Your independent capstone
Independent capstone: a team wants a report assistant. Vendor claims 40% savings from generation timing on four selected cases. Cloud model uses a remote index; retention unknown. Source documents contain personal information. Reviewer available for synthetic trials only. Write a 500-word decision packet.

Write a conditional adoption decision
Use the supplied independent case above. Check the bounded decisions, then review your written artifact against the full acceptance criteria.
Everything runs in this browser. No AI model is called and no work is uploaded. Bounded checks cover specific facts and rules. Your writing is not graded: you review it yourself. Practice never marks a lesson complete automatically.
Include non-AI alternative, boundary, evidence gaps, owners, stop conditions and requirements before real use.
Try the task, run the checks, then revise. Checks are teaching feedback, not an instructor grade.
Observed browser simulation
This trace comes from the bounded local checker. It is not a Python run, model result or production tool execution.
Self-review
Locked. Write every written part, then run the checks. A few words is not an attempt.
This is self-review, not grading. Read our answers, then tick what your own work does. Ticks are optional. They stay on this page and are not saved or sent anywhere. A different answer can be just as good if it meets the lesson criteria.
Your adoption decision packet
A strong answer
Need: faster report drafting for one team. Non-AI alternative: a report template and a shared checklist. It costs little and adds no new data flow. Boundary: cloud model, remote index, retention unknown. Source documents hold personal information, so no real documents go in. Evidence gaps: the vendor’s 40% covers generation time on four selected cases, with review and correction left out. I do not accept it as a total saving. Decision: a bounded pilot on supplied synthetic records only. Owner: the team lead. Reviewer: the named reviewer, synthetic trials only. Stop if any real record enters the system or an output states something the sources do not support. Before any real use: a retention answer in writing, an access review, total-effort results from the pilot and sign-off from whoever is accountable for the data.
A flawed answer
The vendor has shown 40% savings, so we should adopt the report assistant for the team’s documents next month. Security is covered because the vendor says the platform is secure. We will review after six months.
What is wrong with it: 40% is generation time on four selected cases, not total effort. The team’s documents hold personal information and retention is unknown; a vendor saying “secure” answers neither. There is no alternative, no owner and no stop condition.
Keep or restore your work
Drafts are not saved automatically. Save only fictional practice data. A browser draft may be lost if storage is cleared; download a copy to keep it.
Your steps
- Define a non-AI alternative and baseline.
- Map the known boundary and unresolved data questions.
- Challenge the savings claim and design representative synthetic cases.
- State your decision, owners, stop conditions and evidence required before any real-data use.
Check your work
- No personal data is used or uploaded.
- No purchase, real deployment or approval is performed.
- Retention and total effort remain unresolved.
- Pilot conditions, evidence gates and accountable owners are explicit.
After your attempt: review notes and a common mistake
A bounded synthetic pilot or pause can pass. Endorsing real-data deployment from an attractive demo fails the boundary and evidence criteria. The 40% claim excludes review and correction, so it is not an accepted total-effort measure.
Different wording or a different justified decision can pass. Check your work against every requirement; these notes are not an automated grade.
Explain your approach
What evidence would move your decision from pause to a bounded trial?
Keep your artifact, one correction or decision, its evidence and one remaining limitation. Nothing on this page sends or uploads your work.

Review your independent practice
